Call for the report
The GSBI and 300+ scientists contribute to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN report on the “State of Knowledge on Soil Biodiversity: Status, Challenges, and Potentialities” called for by the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
This report, the result of a mandate from the UN CBD to the FAO to assess the state of knowledge of soil biodiversity, is being produced in collaboration with the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS), the Global Soil Partnership (GSP), the Global Soil Biodiversity Initiative (GSBI), and the European Commission (EC).
To learn more about the call for a global soil biodiversity report made at the UN CBD Conference of Parties 14 (COP14) by former GSBI Executive Director Dr. Kelly Ramirez and Dr. Wim van der Putten of the Netherlands, click here or download the request from the CBD here. COP14 met in Sharem El-Sheikh, Egypt, on November 17-29, 2018 and requested a report on soil biodiversity.
