GSBI Speaks
Climate change-induced wildfire effects on soil biodiversity
September 14, 2021 8-9:30am MDT, 4-5:30pm CEST, 3-4:30pm BST
Moderated by Richard Bardgett
This webinar will explore recent advances in Climate Change research on wildfires and impacts on soil biodiversity. With rising awareness of wildfires worldwide and the release of the IPCC report on Climate Change, and upcoming COP26 in Glasgow and UN Biodiversity Convention in China, the topic is timely. This webinar will focus on new understanding of climate-induced wildfires, their effects on soil biodiversity and ecosystem processes, and identify research priorities for the future.
Join moderator Richard Bardgett (University of Manchester, UK) and panelists Lizzie Wandrag (University of York, UK), Konstantin Gongalsky (Russian Academy of Sciences, Russia), Marie-Charlotte Nilsson (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Sweden) and Mac Callaham (US Forest Service, USA), as they discuss their research, major gaps in knowledge, and how soil biodiversity research under global changes informs future land use policy.
